FAQ

Who can participate?

Anyone can participate since DOMA affects us all.  If you live in a state that doesn’t recognize marriage equality, you are affected by section 2 which denies the portability of marriage.  And if you live in a state that does recognize marriage equality, you are affected by section 3 which denies same-sex marriage couples all the 1,138 federal marriage benefits.  Having more states join Massachusetts and others in this fight against DOMA will help rid all of us of this discriminatory law.

Wouldn’t this be hard for AG Richard Blumenthal to do politically?

No, in fact, the majority of Connecticut citizens already support marriage equality and that number is every increasing.  Also, I would point to Massachusetts and Attorney General Martha Coakley as a similar example and the lawsuit that she filed on behalf of Massachusetts was extremely well received.
